About Us

President's Message

The vision of the Newcastle Chamber is to support, ensure representation and to interact with other stakeholders as well as the three spheres of government that is the Local and District council, Provincial and National government on behalf of our members.

Our affiliation to the South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SACCI) ensures that our member interests are addressed and represented at national and global level. It is an unfortunate fact that we do encounter some controversial issues with some of the departments at local government which leads to hardening of attitudes, but as business representatives, we trust and believe that the spirit of finding solutions as opposed to encountering problems will always prevail. Together we will always strive to resolve the differences in the spirit of cooperation and for the best interest/advantage of the greater Newcastle business and community.

Currently, we are witnessing so many developmental projects that are taking place in and around Newcastle. We note with great appreciation that our town is fast becoming the vibrant economic hub of the Northern KwaZulu-Natal region as it is centrally situated between the Durban, Richards Bay harbours and Gauteng. With the sustainable growth and development, taking place, the business communities stand to achieve best results/goals in the long term.

A word of advice to business, “United we stand, but divided we fall”. Unity has never been so crucial as compared to now, because growth and development comes with bigger challenges. Business organisations should always remember that they are ethically and morally accountable to server their external and internal clients with total business etiquette. Business should strive to ensure that wherever they operate, people and communities around them better because of the presence of business in those areas.

Let us join hands with the government, and be partners to successfully address the issues of abject poverty, crime, environmental degradation and HIV and AIDS. Let us seek to be part of the solution in these challenges and create a circle of winners.

Lastly, I would like to urge business to join and support the Newcastle Chamber of Commerce and Industry for your voice to be heard and success and to please keep us advised of any issues that you want us to address on your behalf.

Chamber President
